PRODUCTION PLANNING GUIDE

Plan Production for Your Jewelry Collection

Turn approved samples into a clear production plan. Confirm order details, coordinate packaging and inspections, and work back from your required arrival date.

Confirm the Essentials Before Production Starts

An approved sample is one part of production readiness. Confirm the following items together so the order can be scheduled against a clear specification.

Approved Sample & Specifications

Identify the approved sample, drawing revision, materials, finish and any agreed tolerances. Close outstanding changes before releasing the affected work.

Order Breakdown

Confirm quantities by design, color and size. State whether quantities are measured in pieces, pairs or sets.

Commercial Confirmation

Confirm the quotation or proforma invoice and complete the payment requirements agreed for production release.

Materials & Components

Confirm availability and preparation requirements for metals, chains, clasps, stones and other components.

Packaging & Artwork

Confirm packaging format, logo files, labels and approval deadlines so packaging is ready when needed.

Inspection & Delivery Requirements

Agree inspection requirements, any testing or third-party inspection, delivery destination and the required arrival date.

Confirm the production start date with your project contact. A payment date or sample approval date alone does not establish the full schedule.

Understand the Main Production Milestones

The manufacturing route depends on your design and materials. Use these milestones to discuss progress, dependencies and the next decision required.

process description Points that need to be clarified
1. Production Release
Confirm the approved specification, order details and conditions required to begin.
Basis for commencement, version, and start date
2. Material & Component Preparation
Prepare the materials and components required for the confirmed order.
Material shortages, procurement, and arrival timing for parts/accessories
3. Forming & Surface Preparation
Follow the agreed manufacturing route, including forming, machining or casting where applicable, followed by surface preparation.
Applicable Process and Inspection Points
4. Finishing & Assembly
Complete the agreed finish and assembly sequence for the product.
Color plating, decorative elements, and color coordination of matching components
5. Final Checks & Packing
Complete the agreed final checks, resolve outstanding issues and pack the goods to the approved requirements.
Test results, packaging, and packing information
6. Shipment Release
Confirm dispatch requirements and hand the goods over to the agreed carrier or forwarder.
Release conditions, logistics handover, and shipping documentation

Start with the required arrival date. Review transit, customs and delivery allowances, then confirm the time needed for production and any remaining pre-dispatch work.

Production completion, dispatch and arrival are different milestones. Confirm which milestone each quoted lead time refers to.

Plan Packaging Alongside Production

Confirm packaging early enough to support the packing schedule. Artwork approval, sourcing and sample checks may need to run alongside jewelry production.

Approve ArtworkConfirm the latest logo, printed text, barcode and label files.
Check Product FitConfirm that cards, pouches, inserts and boxes fit the finished product.
Set the Ready-by DateAgree when packaging must be available for packing.
Confirm Packing InstructionsSpecify individual packing, sets, SKU labels and carton requirements.

Track Dates, Responsibilities and Open Items

Keep one shared milestone record. Separate the original plan, current forecast and actual completion so changes remain visible.

Keep Changes Visible and Decisions Timely

A production plan should show what could change the schedule and what action is needed next.

Influencing factors description
Design Changes
Review changes to materials, dimensions, finishes or construction before applying them. Confirm any impact on cost, timing and sample approval.
Additional Colors or Quantities
Check whether added variations or quantities require new materials, finishing arrangements or a revised production slot.
Late Packaging Approval
Confirm artwork and packaging decisions by the agreed deadline.
Testing or Inspection Requirements
Include requested tests and independent inspections early enough to arrange samples, appointments and results review.
Capacity & Holiday Schedules
Review the factory and supplier calendar when confirming the production slot.
Shipping Changes
Recheck dispatch and arrival estimates if the destination, shipping method or shipment arrangement changes.

If your deadline is fixed, tell us which details are flexible. Options such as fewer variations, available components or phased delivery can be reviewed where feasible.

Preguntas frecuentes

When does the production lead time begin?

Confirm the start conditions and start date for your order. These may include approved specifications, order confirmation, agreed payment and material readiness.

Confirm the scope of the quoted lead time. Manufacturing, dispatch and delivery are separate stages, and transit or customs time may be additional.

Packaging preparation can often run alongside production once the necessary specifications and artwork are approved. Confirm its ready-by date against the packing schedule.

Previous samples and production records can simplify preparation. Material availability, order quantity, specification changes and current capacity still need to be checked.
